Pro Tools 6.1 for TDM and LE Systems Now Available.
Along with a streamlined new look for the Mix, Edit, and Transport windows, Pro Tools 6.1 software brings to XP the powerful DigiBase file management utility, enhanced MIDI functionality (including high-resolution groove templates!), additional Beat Detective features, new Import Session options, plug-in functionality enhancements, MachineControl option additions, a host of new enhancements to Pro Tools LE, and much more.
Whether you want to exchange files directly with Avid picture workstations or simply finish any project quickly, Pro Tools' industry-leading feature set for post production helps you get the job done. Pro Tools 6.1 includes support for AVoption|XL, providing record and playback of JFIF video resolutions up to 1:1 uncompressed. In addition, the FilmFrame option is now included as standard functionality with AVoption|XL, enabling playback of 24P and 25P JFIF video recorded with Avid workstations without the need for separate authorization.
Pro Tools TDM 6.1 also provides recording, playback, and seamless interchange of audio and video files via Avid Unity MediaNetwork shared storage systems (Pro Tools|HD only-Windows only; support for Unity on Mac OS X expected Q3 2003). And with the DigiTranslator 2.0 option, Pro Tools 6.1 software features support for the Advanced Authoring Format (AAF), the new industry-standard interchange file format for media sequence import/export.
The new DV Toolkit for Pro Tools is an optional cross-platform bundle that adds desktop post production functionality to your Pro Tools LE system. DV Toolkit option includes time code features for Pro Tools LE, DigiTranslator 2.0 option for full AAF/OMF import/export, Digidesign's AudioSuite DINR noise reduction plug-in, and Synchro Arts VocALign Project for dialog replacement.
Pro Tools 6.1 also introduces support for Propellerhead Software's ReWire technology, allowing for audio signals from your favorite compatible software synthesizers, samplers, and other host-based instruments to be directly routed into Pro Tools for further mixing and processing possibilities.
Speaking of compatibility, Pro Tools 6.1 software supports both ASIO drivers for Windows XP and Core Audio drivers for Mac OS X systems, enabling third party audio programs supporting the ASIO or Core Audio standards to utilize supported Digidesign hardware for multi-channel recording and playback. The company says that Core Audio drivers for Digi 002/Digi 002 Rack are expected in third quarter of 2003.
Pro Tools 6.1 also expands the number of Undo levels from 16 to 32, allowing even more creative freedom with the assurance of easily going back and undoing previous operations.
