Digigram embeds Enhanced apt-X audio compression schemes into its range of IP audio codecs and solutions.

To manage field contribution from reporters or to transmit programs from A to B, typically for STL (studio-to-transmitter links) or SSL (studio-to-studio link) over IP networks, broadcasters face a variety of challenges. They might need to stream audio over building-to-building distances or more likely over long distances, to remote locations (e.g. transmitters).
The transmission line quality and bandwidth they have to cope with might also vary in the same proportions, depending on available network infrastructures.
For that reason, Digigram -as a key manufacturer of IP audio codec equipment- is committed to offering its partners and customers the widest range of options when it comes to audio compression algorithms.

Recently, and in addition to existing options, Digigram R&D labs heavily -and successfully- tested the apt-X Enhanced audio compression encoding/decoding schemes within its IQOYA line of IP audio devices as well as within Visiblu®, the company's network audio operating system (management of distributed audio processing resources and IP audio transport) for both WindowsTM and Linux platforms.

Jonny McClintock, Commercial Director of APTX states that "We are delighted to have Digigram as a Licensee of Enhanced apt-X. The well-known features of low latency and audio quality offered by Enhanced apt-X will be greatly complimented in the IQOYA range of audio codecs. The broadcast industry is the true winner in that users can access a superb audio compression algorithm in a world beating product".

For Pascal Malgouyard, Digigram's Head of Product Marketing, "Enhanced apt-X will be particularly suitable for customers looking for excellent audio quality while preserving low delay figures when network bandwidth is available".

The apt-X Enhanced scheme will be a valuable addition to IQOYA V*MOTE and V*CALL used for contribution links and to IQOYA *LINK and *SERV/LINK, Digigram's IP audio codec (stereo and multiple-stereo/multichannel respectively), typically used for building, low-latency IP links.

The IQOYA range is typically chosen by broadcasters opting for IP audio for costs reasons while not skimping on audio quality, advanced features and rock-solid reliability.

The Enhanced apt-X option for IQOYA will be released by Digigram as an upgrade or optional codec pack later during Q1/2010.
