Live On-Air and Live Recording with TASCAM

Live-Is-Life recently took delivery of two Tascam MX2424 machines.  The MX2424 is a 24 track Harddisk recorder for use in the most demanding professional recording situations.  Untill now Live-Is-Life was using an extensive number of DTRS recorders, including DA98HR and DA78HR.

But custommers wanted to have an easy way to import the recorded event in their ProTools system.  The MX2424 can do the job easily, and has the possibility to directly format the drive in the format needed to be recognised by Digidesign ProTools.  Two machines offer Live-Is-Life all the flexibility wich is needed.  You can either record up to 48 tracks, or you can use the second machine as a safety-recording for your other 24 tracks.  Together with the existing the DTRS machines you can even have a DTRS-safety recording of the MX2424 main recording.

Recent events recorded on the MX2424 are M-Kids (40 tracks recording for DVD), De Kreuners (live recording for album) and MaanRock Festival 2003 Mechelen.

During July and August 4FM is hitting the road witht he Summer-Tour-Bus.  The bus is equiped with a complete Self-op On-Air studio built around the Tascam DM24 digital mixing console.  The choice for the DM24 was made because its excellent sound and its ease of use, even in demanding self-op conditions.  Its perfect integration over RS422 with the Zenon-Media Radio Automation system were excelent for handling start/stop and PFL issues for all 4 channels (2xplayers and 2xJingles).

Appart of the self-op capabilities, the console was ideal for the live-on-stage projects held on saturday afternoons, where a more technical setup was needed.

4FM is every afternoon On-Air with the Tascam DM24, Zenon Media and using Mayah codecs as ISDN-codec (using 128kb/s AAC !).
