Videohouse uses DiGiCo SD8 for broadcast productions
Patrick "Piwi" Vandewal and Ad Van Beek have chosen for a Digico SD8 for several broadcast productions.Patrick Vandewal explains: "We need a very mobile desk with a plug-and-play concept. For example we use the SD8 for "De Laatste Show" which runs only 4 days a week. We need to have the possibility to use the desk also during the other days in other venues. With the MADI standard of the SD8, you just have to connect 2 cables and you can start to mix 56 channels. This in combination with the weight of the console makes it all possible. The SD8 includes almost all the outboard gear we need, so we don't need to move an additional rack. "
Ad Van Beek continues: "We use every feature of the console. All the channels and fader banks are full. We use the console for monitors and afterwards I can mix the FOH with the remote online software on my laptop via WIFI. So actually I'm doing FOH and monitors with 1 console, the Digico SD8."
Patrick Vandewal adds: "We even have done some productions without an audio OBvan. Everything was recorded via the SD8 (RME MadiFace) and later on mixed in our studio. That console saved us during that production a lot of money. With the SD8 we have one console and thus one sound engineer for monitors, FOH and recording."
Patrick Vandewal ends: "We are very satisfied of that console. It still has the old analogue workflow, but combined with more possibilities and more compact. Even the young engineers can work with it after a few minutes."
