Polé Polé and Boomtown use APEX SL-series

In order to respect the maximum sound level in the city of Ghent, Phlippo (Pole Pole) and ARC production (Boomtown) are using the SL-series of Apex.

The Apex SL-series is a set of tools to protect hearing, neighbours, the environment and equipment against excessive sound levels; without altering the sound programme. The concept behind the SL-series is to have two basic units, the Argos and the Hera. These can be used independently or combined to provide a fully featured sound levelling system. The Apex Leto large remote display is intended to increase the public's and performer's awareness of sound levels.

Jelle Coremans, sound engineer at Polé Polé, says: "Thanks to the big screen of the Leto, all the guest mixers see immediately their sound level. This helps a lot to keep them to the permitted level without any discussions. The use of a remote microphone is very convenient. We aligned our line array just under the FOH to avoid extra reflections. With this remote microphone, we can measure the sound pressure at the correct place and we don't have any influence of the monitor speakers in the FOH."

Marc De Baets, ARC Productions, adds: "The environmental department of Ghent was very happy with this excellent initiative. By using this system, every FOH guest engineer was aware of the sound level and respected the limitations."
